Amerikanska spelaren Emily Burke är klar för Umeå IK. Emily har senaste säsongen spelat i irländska topplaget Athlone FC. Innan dess har hon spelat för lag i Danmark och Portugal. Värvningen av Emily är möjlig tack vare en extern internationell sponsor.

Welcome to Umeå and Umeå IK! First of all, how does it feel?

-I feel very excited to come to Umeå and to be a part of Umeå IK. I am looking forward to making friends with my teammates, making an impact, and enjoying Sweden.

What are your expectations of being a part of Umeå IK?

-My expectations are to develop my skills and abilities as a player. As a team, I expect us to qualify for the OBOS Damllsvenskan.

Tell us about you as a person and a player. And tell us about your career so far.

-After I received my bachelor’s in biology from Georgia State University, I decided to pursue my passion and move my life overseas to play football. I have played in Portugal, Denmark, and Ireland (in which we qualified for Champions League). I am a strong defensive midfielder but have played all positions at the professional level.

What are your best skills as a player?

-My best skills are my defensive scanning, reading the game, passing, tackling, intercepting the ball, and my endurance.

What are you hoping to distribute to the team?

-I hope to create more chances by breaking up play in the midfield and distributing passes forward.

What can our club and fans expect from you?

-They can expect intensity and hard work every single day.
